I have worked with Quesnel School District for over 15 years in a variety of roles (TOC, Resource Teacher, Kindergarten Teacher, Early Literacy Teacher). Throughout that time, I have had the opportunity to continually build upon my professional skills through participating in workshops, district initiatives, and professional development opportunities, as well as pursuing a Master's degree. After taking part in a district Early Literacy Initiative, I was encouraged and supported to share my knowledge and practice in the area of Early Literacy with other teachers across BC through presenting at workshops, conferences, and at Professional Development days. This has led to opportunities to work professionally with leaders within the Early Literacy field from Canada and the United States.

— Shauna Lothrop, Early Literacy Teacher

I have worked with the Quesnel School District for 21 years with the majority of my teaching experience as an intermediate French Immersion teacher. I am currently serving the district in the capacity of Ed Tech and Language Coordinator to help mentor and build teacher capacity through direct support, website resources and workshops. I appreciate how the School District has provided flexibility for me to grow as a teacher, being released to be an exchange teacher with our twin city, Shiraoi, Japan, and funding my Masters of Arts in Leadership & Administration through Gonzaga University.

I highly value the use of technology as a means to provide easier access to learning for students. The School District has been forward thinking in the implementation of technology, such as assistive technology like Read & Write for Google Chrome and in providing SMART Boards and Viewboards in the classroom. Currently, I enjoy supporting teachers and students to become more comfortable with technology and the French curriculum and look forward to how technology continues to challenge us all!

- Kevin Sturt, Education Technology & Language Coordinator
