What Our Teachers & Staff Are Saying

Dan Lowndes, Superintendent of Schools

"I have been with School District #28 since 2004 as an Education Assistant, Youth Care Worker, Counselor, School-based Administrator and District Administrator. These opportunities have allowed me to recognize the strengths we possess across our district. I have the opportunity to work with passionate, innovative and knowledgeable staff with student success as the primary focus. The strength our staff, the connections with students and the opportunities provided to me to deepen my knowledge have affirmed that the Quesnel School District was/is the absolute best career choice for me. I am lucky to work in a community that allows me to enjoy my passion: the outdoors. The opportunities for outdoor fun are unparalleled and often touched."

Jolene King - District Vice Principal of Child Care

I began teaching in School District 28 in 2008 and my husband and I are raising our family on a rural hobby farm in Quesnel. A few of the many district opportunities in which I had the opportunity to be involved are the completion of my Masters of Education in Educational Leadership, Social and Emotional Learning - Positive Supports, a school-based K - 7 Scope, and Sequence for year-long teaching of self-regulation. As well, I have emphasized building and strengthening relationships amongst colleagues, staff, students and families. I am currently the District Vice-Principal of Early Learning and Child Care where I am leading the development, growth, and management of child care and early learning programming throughout the district. Strengthening early years to kindergarten has been a fulfilling initiative that has focused on the collaboration and strengthening of relationships across the K-12 and early years sectors.  I was previously the Vice-Principal and then Principal of Voyageur Elementary School. I have also worked as the acting Principal at both McNaughton Centre and Carson Elementary Schools. I find my job to be personally rewarding and in my role plan to continue to work with children, families, staff, and the community to empower them with a sense of belonging, respect, and purpose.
